Η γερμανική ταινία του Edward Berger «Ουδέν νεώτερον από το Δυτικό Μέτωπο» ήταν η μεγάλη νικήτρια στα “βρετανικά Όσκαρ”, δηλαδή τα βραβεία BAFTA, στην λαμπερή τελετή απονομής, στο Royal Festival Hall του Λονδίνου.
Ο Edward Berger κατέκτησε επίσης το βραβείο καλύτερης σκηνοθεσίας. Η ταινία κέρδισε επίσης τα βραβεία καλύτερου διασκευασμένου σεναρίου, ξενόγλωσσης (μη αγγλόφωνης) ταινίας, φωτογραφίας, ήχου και πρωτότυπης μουσικής επένδυσης.
Παραλαμβάνοντας το BAFTA για την καλύτερη ταινία, ο σκηνοθέτης ευχαρίστησε τον πρωταγωνιστή του, Felix Kammerer, χωρίς τον οποίο, όπως είπε χαρακτηριστικά δεν θα είχαν κερδίσει κανένα βραβείο. Ο νεαρός ηθοποιός έκανε το κινηματογραφικό του ντεμπούτο στην ταινία αυτή, και, πραγματικά εντυπωσίασε με την ερμηνεία του.

Το βραβείο BAFTA καλύτερου ανδρικού ρόλου κέρδισε ο Όστιν Μπάτλερ για την ερμηνεία του στη βιογραφική ταινία «Έλβις», όπου υποδύεται τον θρύλο του ροκ-εντ-ρολ. Ο Μπάτλερ κέρδισε τους Φάρελ και Φρέιζερ που ήταν επίσης φαβορί για το βραβείο.

Στην κατηγορία της Καλύτερης Ηθοποιού, η Kate Blanchet, όπως αναμενόταν κέρδισε το τέταρτο BAFTA της καριέρας της για την ερμηνεία της στην ταινία Tar, όπου υποδύεται μια διευθύντρια ορχήστρας η οποία εμπλέκεται σε ένα σκάνδαλο.
